Find something that calms you and provides a peaceful energy and make it part of every day.
Psalms 29:11
“The Lord gives strength to his people. The Lord blesses his people with peace.”
Visiting Daytona Beach Shores, Florida, a few years ago, I took a walk out to the beach late at night. It was dark, with just the light from the moon, the stars and the faint light from the condo buildings several hundred yards away. The only sound to be heard was that of the ocean as the Atlantic Ocean waves crashed on to the soft sand shore. Barefoot, I walked along the beach close enough to the water so that the salt water would rush over my feet with each wave coming to shore. It was in that moment that I found a sense of peace that I was not even aware was missing. It is within that peace that I find my strength.
The ocean, or being near any body of water, calms me and brings me peace. It also energizes me. Not the type of energy you get from a cup of coffee, but a peaceful sustainable energy. We all have at least one thing in our life that has the ability to both calm us yet bring us a peaceful energy. Most people have a few, but even if you have just one, I encourage you to make it part of your daily routine.
What calms you and brings you a peaceful energy? I have several myself and I make sure they are part of every day. Maybe yours is reading or gardening. Maybe yours is painting or volunteer work. Maybe yours is one of mine: daily devotions, reading the Bible, prayer or running. Maybe it is quality time with a spouse or your children. Find that thing, or things, that have the ability to both bring you peace yet energize you and make them part of every day.
May you find peace in every day.
